Frequently asked questions
For all domains for which Domainnameshop is registrar (i.e. the yearly fee is paid through Domainnameshop), you may change nameservers from the control panel on our website:
- Log in to the control panel at www.domainnameshop.com/login
- Click on "My Domains"
- Click on the domain in question
- Click on "Edit nameservers" on the right side of the page
- Add two or more nameservers and click on "Change" at the bottom of the page
Normally, you will only have to give the host name and not the IP-address for each of the nameservers, but if the nameserver you wish to use is a subdomain under the actual domain (e.g. ns1.mittnavn.no as the nameserver for mittnavn.no), you will also be asked for the IP-address.
Note! For certain top-level domains (.no/.is/.de/.nl), the nameservers have to be set up to answer correctly before the change can be made. Not all foreign ISPs are aware of this, and they might ask you to change nameservers before they are ready. If you get an error message when you try to change nameservers, forward it to those who maintain the nameservers you are trying to use, and ask them to create a correct zone file for the domain in question on all the nameservers.
For domains other than .no/.is/.de/.nl, you can uncheck the box marked "Check that the nameservers are correctly configured (recommended)" in case you receive an error message. The change will then be made even if the nameservers are not correctly set up. You may risk that the domain stops working, but this can still be useful if you know the nameservers are not set up yet, but soon will be.
Note! If we are not the registrar for the domain, it is not possible to change nameservers via our system. You will have to contact the registrar in question with which the domain is registered.
