In August 2024, Domainnameshop was acquired by Miss Group. What does this mean for Domainnameshop's customers?
For the time being: nothing. Domainnameshop will still be Domainnameshop. We will continue to be a Norwegian company with servers in Norway, with the same skilled employees, the same robust services and the same low prices. In the long term, the acquisition means that Domainnameshop's customers will have access to a larger product portfolio than today.
Who is Miss Group?
Miss Group is a rapidly growing Nordic web hosting and digital solution provider. Miss Group has its head office in Stockholm and branches in Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, India, Lithuania, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the USA. Miss Group operates a number of brands in Europe and the USA within different market segments and profiles. Miss Group already owns
Domene.no in Norway and
Miss Hosting in Sweden. The two founders and former owners of Domainnameshop have joined the ownership side of Miss Group as minority shareholders, and will help develop the company further within the Miss Group family, while at the same time aiming to preserve the company's uniqueness and distinct character.
Will the servers still be located in Norway?
Yes. For any foreseeable future Domainnameshop's servers will stay in Norway. As part of Miss Group we will, down the line, be able to offer server locations in other countries. Norwegian customers who wish to store their data in Norway can rest assured that this will always be accommodated.
Do you plan to increase the prices now?
Domainnameshop has always been and will continue to be a low-cost player. However, in the last 2-3 years, we like many others in the industry, have had to adjust our prices as a result of high inflation and a weakening of the NOK exchange rate against other currencies. We cannot guarantee that we will not have to change our prices again, but we guarantee that we will still be competitive pricewise.
Are you going to change control panel?
In August 2024, when Domeneshop was acquired, we had no plans for this. Now, in 2026, we have seen that our old platform unfortunately no longer works for several services our customers have requested. In June 2026, we will start with a new control panel for new customers. Existing customers will be migrated after the summer of 2026 and in 2027. More services such as account access management, cPanel and a separate module for resellers are some of what our customers have requested and which we are proud to be able to offer in the future.
What will happen to the ICANN accreditation?
Domainnameshop will retain its ICANN accreditation for gTLD domains, in addition to all national registrar accreditations for ccTLDs. As such, we will still be able to offer registration of e.g. .com, .no, .dk and .se domains without delaying and expensive intermediaries.
