Problems receiving email

Internet access

Check that you actually have an internet connection by visiting a website

Configuration error in email client

The configuration in your email client may have errors. Verify your settings by clicking your email client here. Some e-mail clients (i.a. Outlook) can change the settings when it is updated. Remember that your username is different from your e-mail adress. If your domain name is myname.no, the username typically would be myname1 or myname2. We recommend using port 993 for IMAP and port 995 for POP3. In both cases, SSL encryption should be used.

Configuration error in your account

The configuration of the email account could be configured wrong at www.domainnameshop.com. Log in to www.domainnameshop.com with your username and password and check that the account recieves e-mail from the correct e-mail adress.

Mail quota exceeded

Your email accounts email quota could be exceeded. You can login here webmail to check status and delete emails.

Firewall/Antivirus

If you have installed a firewall or an anti-virus program (e.g. Norton Internet Security), these may block you from reading email. Turn off the firewall or anti-virus program and try getting the email again.

Recently registered or transferred domain

The domain is recently registered or transferred. It can take 24-48 hours before all nameservers on the Internet are notified that a domain is registered or transferred. Email will work when the nameservers have registered this information. Wait 24 hours and try again.

Special characters

Your domain name contains æ, ø, å or other special characters (so-called IDN), but your email client does not support IDN. See further explanation here.

Deactivated domain

Your domain name has been deactivated because of a non-paid invoice. Email will be rejected, and the sender will receive an error message. Email will usually work the day after we have received payment via BBS.

Delayed e-mail

The e-mail could be delayed, not lost. It is impossible to guarantee a delivery time for email, and in those rare circumstances it can take hours or even days before a message reaches you..
