How do i configure Outlook 2016?

To set up your Domainnameshop email in Outlook 2016 for Windows, do the following:

  1. Open Control Panel in Windows. You may find this by searching in the Windows Search bar

  2. Search for Mail in the search field in the top right corner, then open the item named Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2016)

  3. Click Email Accounts...

  4. In the Email-tab, click New

Automatic configuration

Note that automatic configuration doesn't always work. If it fails, please see Manual configuration below

  1. Enter your name, e-mail adress and password. Then click Next

  1. Click Allow when you are asked to allow to configure server settings

  2. Your account will now be configured automatically. If this fails, please see Manual configuration below

Manual configuration

  1. Choose Manual setup or additional server types and click Next

  2. Choose POP or IMAP, then click Next

  3. Provide the following information:

  • Enter your name and and e-mail adress under User Information
  • Choose Account Type IMAP.
  • Incoming mail server:
  • Outgoing e-mail (SMTP):
  • Enter your username and password under Logon Information

  1. Click More settings

  2. Go to the tab Outgoing Server

    • Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
    • Choose Use same settings as my incoming mail server

  3. Go to the tab Advanced and enter these settings:

  • For Incoming server (IMAP), use encryption SSL, and port number 993
  • For Outgoing server (SMTP), use encryption STARTTLS, and port number 587

  1. Click OK

  2. Click Next, then Finish to complete the set up
