What is Domainnameshop's email server (MX)?

If you use external nameservers, but wish to use Domainnameshop's email services for your domain, you need to set up an "MX record" in DNS for the domain, and an SPF entry. The MX record must point to Domainnameshop's email servers. The SPF entry must permit Domainnameshop as a sender for the domain.

Make the following changes by logging in to the control panel at the external DNS/nameserver provider.

Contact your DNS provider if you are unsure about how to do this.

MX record

Add the following MX record for the domain:

mx.domeneshop.no

If you are asked to fill in a value for "Priority", you can set this to 10.

There should not be other MX records for the domain.

SPF entry

The SPF entry is added as a TXT record. If Domainnameshop is your only email provider, the following is correct:

"v=spf1 include:_spf.domeneshop.no -all"

There may only be one TXT record with SPF for the domain. There may be other TXT records.

Error message in our control panel about missing/wrong MX

Note: you may see an error message about this in our control panel for a short period after you have update DNS, because DNS changes may take a while. Your DNS provider can answer how long you should expect to wait.

External spam filter

If you are using an external email server for filtering spam, which then forwards email to our email accounts, the filtering server must be configured to forward the filtered email to our email server. The external email server must rewrite senders according to SRS (sender rewriting scheme) as needed.
