What is AUTHINFO/EPP code?

Authorization code (also known as EPP code/AUTHINFO) is a code used to authenticate the transfer of the domain.

It is a security feature that gives the owner of a domain name exclusive control over the registered name and prevents unauthorized transfer of the name to another party. The authorization code is a text string that is generated by the registrar (eg Domainnameshop) and sent to the owner of the domain name to confirm ownership and ensure that no unauthorized transfer can be made.

Where can I find the authorization code?

You must contact your current registrar (where your domain name is registered) to obtain your authorization code.

If the domain is registered with us, you can find it in the following way:

  1. Log in to the control panel at https://www.domainnameshop.com/login
  2. Click on My Domains
  3. Click on the relevant domain
  4. For domains where it says "Registrar lock: ON ", click on Unlock domain on the right of the page (.no and .se domains do not have a registrar lock)
  5. Click on Request authorization code (AUTHINFO) at the bottom of the page
