It sometimes takes a long time before an email arrives. What is wrong?

There are many reasons for an email being delayed. An email is usually passing through a handful of mail servers on its way from sender to recepient. If one of these servers are down or overloaded, the email may be delayed. Our mail servers are fast, and we rarely experience problems with them, but as mentioned, a delay can occur in other servers on the way from sender to recepient. It normally takes few seconds from an email is sent to it reaches the recepient. However, it can take hours or even days for an email to arrive in some cases. This applies especially on days when many emails containing spam and virus are circulating. An email is usually returned to sender if it cannot be delivered within 4 days. If you are in a hurry, concider using phone or fax instead.
